The system falls into three realms.

The Divine Courts, the Court Above and the Court Below, welcome those who leave their mortal timelines. While all manner of creature Descends to the Court Below, only the Souls willing to embrace their Shadows can unify themselves and Ascend to the Court Above.

The Living Courts are home to the nine celestial courts, each with their own unique cultures, species, monarchies, and mythology. They devote themselves to their namesakes, the Old Gods in the Court Above.

The Inner Courts are comprised of the Mercurian, Venusian, Earthen, and Maritan Courts.

The Outer Courts include the Jovian, Saturnian, Neptunian, Urasian, and Plutonian Courts.

Resting in the mist between the Divine and the Living are the Courts Between, the Solar and the Lunar Courts. At war for millennia, these mysterious courts of demigods have divided the Living Courts’ loyalties as they struggle to grasp whatever power the Divine Courts toss at their feet.

The Rift, a mysterious river made of light and color, weaves the courts together and allows for travel between the gates—whether one would be welcome through that gate is at each monarch’s discretion.
